Introducing the Impact Fund, a collaborative approach to financing and sustaining neighborhood public health services

The Impact Fund is the foundation of Health Commons Project. Our Impact Fund team are specialists at knowing how to braid together public and private funds and make the right investments into schools and community-based organizations that are successfully closing health equity gaps in underserved neighborhoods across Washington state.

Though healthcare disparities are not new, the COVID-19 pandemic brought shocking gaps in care to the forefront. Since June 2020, Health Commons Project has been working the front lines of COVID-19 pandemic response. We have seen firsthand the structural barriers local schools and community organizations need to overcome to implement and financially sustain public health services. While the healthcare industry and government have in some ways stepped up to tackle health equity, experts agree there is still a long way to go.

To accelerate these efforts, school and community organizations across Washington state are stepping up to fully integrate their services inspired by the Center for Disease Control’s Whole School, Whole Community and Whole Child Framework, but they also need help fully integrating financing to achieve their goals. That’s where we come in.
